Michael Brauer edited comment on OFFICE-1366 at 9/23/09 8:57 AM:
-----------------------------------------------------------------
It's actually not HTML's <plugin> element, but the <embed> element, which interestingly also appears in HTML5 drafts.
My suggestion is to describe the element in the future as follows:
The <draw:plugin> element represents an external application that processes a media-type (plugin).
Note1: The semantics of the <draw:plugin> element equal that of the <embed> element which is under discussion for successor versions of [HTML4].
Note2: This specification does not define how external applications interact with OpenDocument implementations.
Note3: Implementations should take care of security considerations than interacting with external applications referenced by a <draw:plugin> element.
