Hi Jim,

Putting aside the effort I put into getting the NCRA and the NVRA
involved. I did solicit support from ALL the CAT people and from the
other major transcript products and from the StenoMask transcript
producers and from the vendors i.e. Live Note, RealLegal, Summation,
etc. 

In my assessment the relative chaos of the transcript market is the very
substance and revenue earning potential of many of these groups. For
others it's all too bewildering to contemplate. For others still they
are taking stock and trying to catch up with all the changes and
wondering whether the new Oasis structure is worth the effort.

Remember it's the production of the transcript where the tagging is
needed so Neil Aresty's company, good fellow that he is, does not deal
with the production merely the hosting. This doesn't mean he doesn't
have a view but if he does I haven't heard it.

BTW:I have had numerous offline emails supporting a standard but few
from people prepared to do the work.

Bottom-line, many people want a standard but very few are prepared to
work on it. As I have zero commercial interest in a transcript standard
I have to focus all my time as a private endeavor. 

Frankly the only reason there is a draft DTD Transcript standard is
because Davin and I made one. There was precious little input from any
other quarter. I'm sure this is how most standards are made - a few
people doing all the work for others to criticize. C'est la vie.

Since the new structure of OASIS I've spent too many hours posting
explanations and writing a charter and soliciting interest. 

In the circumstances the 90 day Oasis deadline is an unnecessary and
artificial impediment to progress.   

You're welcome to play in this space and have as good knowledge as
anyone. Why don't you take the chair? Really this is not a facetious
comment or a joke. Take a real committed role in the creation of a
standard and I'll help.
