With all due respect Dave, isn't that exactly what happened with RSS 2.0? It
was released as a fait accompli (save for explanations in 2.01, or however
you put it), although the namespace angle hadn't been tested.
I know Richard Branson made the move from records to aeroplanes, can I just
suggest now that your skills are most appreciated in the software industry
