I'm not so sure about the "Semantic" part of it.  You don't have to be a
fan of RDF and URI mumbo-jumbo to think that a more machine-readable Web
is a useful step forward.

It may be true for some substantial portion of the REST community, but I
don't think there's any strong correlation there, just a fondness for
"the Web" in a more traditional form than "Web Services" seems to grasp.
