RE: [wss] QoP liaison statement
Kelvin
- I haven't seen your agenda yet.  But, I am preparing a couple of slides
to summarize our progress on QoP since the last face-to-face.  Would you
please allocate 45 minutes for the presentation, discussion and vote concerning
the formation of a sub-committee, sometime between the start of the meeting and
lunch on Thursday.  Thanks very much.  All the best.
Tim.

  statement

HI Tim, thanks
for the heads up. The number one item on the agenda for the Dec 3rd call, as
agreed on the last call needs to be the issues list as we did not get through
them all on the previous call last week and we are trying to close all open
issues to get a new draft published that we can then consider using as a basis
for some interoperability work. There remain quite a large number of issues
that we need to resolve. If we don't have enough time on the Dec 3rd call we
should have ample time at the F2F to discuss.

Cheers
Kelvin

Colleagues - The WSS QoP Discussion Group has made significant progress
since it was established as agreed at the first WSS Face-to-Face meeting.
The results of its work can be found at:-

http://www.entrust.com/resources/pdf/wssqopv09.pdf

There is a significant body of opinion that the topic of QoP
for Web-services is an important, and even urgent, one.  The paper
demonstrates that the problem is sufficiently well understood that a
sub-committee of WSS could tackle it without impacting the schedule that has
been established for the SOAP Message Protection specification.

We therefore request that the WSS TC consider forming a
sub-committee to address this work, and include an agenda item in its meeting
of 3rd Dec to discuss this request.
