These usage definitions are interesting. Working with UBL / UN/CEFACT and other XML standards for a long time one of the biggest problems is the right use of fields / elements especially if you need to define how the mapping should be done to ERP standards (such as SAP).

 

For the definition of a translation mapping from SAP to/from UBL2.1 I have to clarify precisely how financial fields are to be used.

 

When looking at the LegalMonetaryTotal.LineExensionAmount in the PEPPOL example I noticed something was either not correct or I misunderstood the usage. Looks as if in
 the PEPPOL example the LegalMonetaryTotal.LineExtensionAmount is exclusive the allowances and charges on document level.

 

The usage definition is not saying whether the LineExtensionAmount IS inclusive allowances or charges applied on document level.

 

So I have to conclude the amount is exclusive allowances or charges.

The Allowances and charges from the example are document level. They have the same value, 100, and that is why the TaxExclusiveAmount equals LineExtensionAmount. TaxExclusiveAmount = LineExtensionAmount + ChargeTotalAmount - AllowanceTotalAmount.
