Updating MIME Type - Implementers?

Greetings!

Our response to https://issues.oasis-open.org/browse/OFFICE-3868 was
agreed upon by the TC but we have yet to decide on the updating to the
new MIME type specification.

I call it out because of changes it makes to the definition of mime
types, which includes:

The ABNF for media type names has been further restricted to require
that names begin with an alphanumeric character.

See the issue in JIRA for a short list of the other changes.

Will these changes cause any problems for existing ODF applications?

I would think not but would rather ask than to get to 1.3 and find out
it is a serious problem.
