As Jirka said.

Define what an application should do with extensions.
Then let IBM and Sun and other vendors do what they want, against
that background.

Then Jirka and others can work to a standard, not a standard with
odds and sods of extensions that no one knows what to do with
and all do something different.

Just get the priorities right for ODF.
