Is it the intent of the ASIS document to mandate Vn.n as the exclusive
format for version numbers? May I publish "V5.0b4"? DocBook has a long
tradition of publishing "beta" releases of upcoming specs in order to
give the community a chance to beat on the real thing. I'd hate to
lose that ability. And publishing v5.0-01, v5.0-02, etc. does not
strike me as an acceptable substitute.
