For those interested in standarized EM symbology
GeoConnections Releases Canada's Emergency Mapping Symbology
(EMS) version 1.0
Over 200 emergency mapping symbols are now available
for use in geospatial products that will help provide common understanding of
emergency situations and improve information-sharing. The two-tiered symbology
was designed to cover a wide range of emergency incident, infrastructure and
operations subjects. The symbols are tailored to Canadian requirements for
situational awareness, first response, natural hazards, public alerting and
critical infrastructure. The Emergency Mapping Symbology is free to use, share,
modify and extend without restriction.
